The Customer: Melbourne Racing Club

Melbourne Racing Club manages three of Australia’s most-recognised racecourses – Caulfield, Mornington and Sportingbet Park – in addition to 12 hotels throughout Melbourne. Employing 250 full time staff as well as thousands of casual workers, the Club hosts 80 horse races a year, including prestigious events such as the Caulfield Cup.

Challenge: Managing multiple vendors

The Club was coping with a difficult print and copy environment, due to a range of devices, from a variety of vendors, across all their offices and venues. As a result the task of handling the support and invoicing was difficult, and toner costs alone were reaching $47,000 a year. They required a single-vendor solution that could deliver reduced overheads, simplified document management and accurate print costs.

Solution: Less cost, time, waste and CO2 with Ricoh

Cost reductions and time savings are just two of the substantial benefits Melbourne Racing Club has realised since commencing its partnership with Ricoh. Print costs per page have come down significantly under the Ricoh solution. In particular, the club is now paying 50 per cent less on average for colour printing, translating into an annual saving of $17,000.

The Follow-You Printing feature of Club’s Ricoh solution has introduced a print workflow that has eliminated waste and security issues associated with uncollected print jobs. Staff are enjoying the added functionality of being able to easily print from any networked printer by releasing their print job with a swipe of their proxy card.

In addition to direct time and money savings, the Ricoh solution has given the Club the ability to manage the print environment through detailed cost monitoring, with the added benefit of reducing administration. As well as helping them manage print budgets for each department, they are enjoying on-demand toner delivery to each office and venue and the elimination of manual meter reading and report creation.
